Color

All photos were taken in natural light. Appearance of color may vary slightly under different light, and on various computer monitors. Color can also vary depending on the thickness of thread and dye lots. If you’d like to see our colors first-hand, email jennifer@mainethread.com to request a complimentary sample card.

Needles

Many crafters use harness needles when sewing with waxed cord. Harness needles have a rounded point and are often used for hand-stitching leather. We recommend the following pairings for needle and thread

.020” - Size 3

.030” - Size 1

.040” - Size 0

Items were as shown, arrived early and in good condition. I tried the thickest thread, which is a bit like kite string, but braided instead of twisted. It is strong and the cobalt blue is vibrant. The harness needles are a bit longer than some a bought from a different company, giving me a sturdy needle to grip. The eyes are not wide. It was a little hard to get my thick thread through there, but it can be done without using a threader.

I cannot comment on the durability of the thread, as my shoes are currently on a shelf drying-- but by all appearances there should be no problems.

This is my first purchase, but I will be back! I am happy to support an American company.

Strong and Beautiful

This cord was exactly what I was hoping it would be I ordered it in several colors, and all were beautifully dyed and manufactured. The colors are bold and even, and the cor is very strong and easy to work with.
