Description
Maine Thread twisted waxed cord has exceptional strength and durability. This cord is made of 100% polyester high-tenacity yarn and is constructed with a right or “S” twist. Twisted cords are ideal for saddlery, leathercraft, pine-needle basketry, and more.
All sizes comes with 70 yards per tube.

Needles
Many crafters use harness needles when sewing with waxed cord. Harness needles have a rounded point and are often used for hand-stitching leather. We recommend the following pairings for needle and thread

This Twisted Waxed Cord works wonderfully hand sewing leather projects. I like that its easy use and doesn't fray with many passes through leather. Be sure to punch a large enough hole for this .040 thousands of an inch cord to pass through once from each side of the leather . Remember not to stab your thread. This is easily done by pulling back on your first pass thread with the needle of the second pass in the hole.

The product is good
I've been using Twisted Wax Cord for all my leather projects for the past six years and couldn't be more pleased! In fact, I don't even look for alternative thread any longer. I buy directly from Maine Thread. Here's a picture of my latest leather bag (completed 09-01-24), made for my daughter to go tailgating at home games.
